Lennar Multifamily Communities has topped out Shift, its development in downtown San Diego’s East Village neighborhood. The 24-story tower includes 19 floors of residential with 220 units, 4,300 sq ft of retail space, above- and below-grade parking

The project has a total of 631,000 square feet, the Shift mixed-use community takes up an entire city block. The residential high-rise boasts a pool on the rooftop deck, while the two low-rise residential buildings sit over two levels of above-grade commercial retail space and parking. Altogether, the three buildings have 368 apartment units, ranging from 600-square-foot studios to 1,200-square-foot two-bedroom apartments, and 19,000 square feet of retail space.

Swinerton is the contractor on the project, which was designed by Carrier Johnson. The high-rise opened its first phase in December 2018, with completion in the spring of 2018. LMC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lennar, has also teamed with Swinerton on the Luma Tower in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood.
